Dr Debashis Sarkar, is the faculty member at the Department of Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Statistics at Institute of Agriculture, Visva-Bharati, Sriniketan, West Bengal, India. His research areas include: Agricultural Finance, Agricultural Marketing, Poverty and Inequality, Rural Development etc. His consulting capabilities are: Rural Development, Monitoring, Pre, On-going and Post Evaluation of Agricultural Programmes and Projects, Quality Control. He was involved in different projects of the National Centre for Agricultural Economics & Policy Research (NCAP), New Delhi; Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India; Department of Agriculture, Government of West Bengal; Department of Plant Quarantine & Storage, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, in cereals/pulses/oilseeds/cash crops/vegetables/fruits. He was also actively involved in imparting training and dissemination of technical knowledge and information to diversified end users. He has supervised approximately fifteen research projects, many in partnership with different governmental agencies and NGOs. He is widely acknowledged for his skills in linking research with the broader community in regional languages. Presently he has been working closely with undergraduate, post-graduate and Ph.D students at Visva-Bharati. He has visited many national and international research institutions on numbers of occasions pertaining to his research work and presentation. Dr.Sarkar has previously worked as Director, Agro-Economic Research Centre, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, West Bengal, India. Research works of Dr. Sarkar were recognised by various agencies and he has received various awards. He has been selected as Editorial Member of Macrothink Institute, USA during 2012-13.  He is the author of nine books (Springer, New Academic Publishers, abc, New Delhi Publishers). He also published numerous articles/reviews in professional national/international journals.
